| To find out the characteristic sonographic (US) findings of multicystic dyspsastic kidney and associatedcongenital anomlies of the contralateral kidney and the other organs, we retrospectively analyzed the renal USfindings and the other organ's radiologic findings in 19 patients with multicystic dysplastic kidney. Most ofmulticystic dysplastic kidneys were normal (55%) or small (20%) in size. Multiple, variable-sized cysts of thekidney were randomly distributed without intercommunication (95%), and sinus echo were not visualized inmulticystic dysplastic kidney. The prevalence of the associated anomalies was eleven of 19 (58%), and thecontralateral kidney had anomalies i six (32%). The smaller the size of multicystic dysplastic kidney was, thehigher the prevalence of the associated anomalies was, however the difference in anomalies of the contralateralkidney was not significant. |
