| The measurement of splenic area on ultrasonography (US) and measurement of splenic volume on computedtomography (CT) were correlated in 36 patients who had both examinations to evaluate the utility of US for splenicsize in normal adults. Then, the splenic area was measured on US in 205 adults (Male:101, Female:104, Age:18-72years, median:41 years) Who were normal on the basis of clinical and laboratory data. The measurement of splenicarea on US was well correlated with CT volumetry (r=0.805). The masurement of splenic area on US was24.27+6.35cm2. The splenic size on US in male was significantly larger than that in female, and also larger ingroup below 40 years than that in group above 40 years. |
