Jeong Mi Park, M.D.,
Sonography has become the primary imaging modality the evaluation of abdominal disease because of the ease quickness of its use and high sensitivity in detecting focal or parenchymal disease. We reviewed the results of 2029 abdominal sonographic examinations made for health-screening purposes. One or more abnormalities were detected in 158 subjects(7.8%): biliary tract abnormality in 61 subjects; hepatic abnormality in 54 subjects; renal abnormality in 35 subjects; splenic abnormality in 6 subjects; hepatic abnormality in 54 subject; renal abnormality in 35 subjects; splenic abnormality in 6 subiects; adrenal abnormality in 2 subjects. These results suggest it is well worth employing sonography for health-screening purposes especially for detecting hepatobiliary system abnormalities.
