Among the different kinds of cystic lesions of the mesentery observed in adults, chylous cysts are extremely rare. They are thought to be primarily lymphatic in nature, arising from sequestered lymphatic channels or ectopic lymphatic tissue, which develop either spontaneously or following trauma. They are difficult to diagnose preoperatively, however, the diagnosis of mesenteric chylous cyst can be made on the basis of a thoughtful interpretation of the ultrasonography and computed tomography findings. We report on a case of a mesenteric chylous cyst which we recently encountered.
